The Devil is in the details! This horn pair has a circular base and a two-turn curl with metallic black at the base shifting to metallic red at the tips. Each horn weighs only 12 grams.
Our prosthetic horns are made from a super lightweight polymer clay that can be worn for hours at a time. Each horn is hand-sculpted, so imperfections and variations are completely the norm – just like in nature – and even horns in pairs will never be exactly mirrored. They are primed and painted with water-based acrylics and then coated with UV-reactive resin for protection. The bases are gently concave to give provide a nice flush surface to affix to skin.
Because our horns are so lightweight, our customers reported their biggest issue was losing track of one or both in a pair, especially in pockets or purses (often found later hiding in a fold). So, each set comes in its own customized box that also includes a simple sleeve for extra double-sided tape.
Yes, double-sided tape – the kind used for scrap-booking – is the most common and effective fixative!
With a little preparation of astringent on the skin (and assuming an indoor or at least not-insanely-hot environment), scrapbook tape works quite well to hold the horns up for literally hours. For a more robust fixative, spirit gum or prosthetic glue can also be used, but note that these will require a removal or releasing agent to avoid damage to the skin.
Note that because we expect that the horns will be modified upon arrival to suit their wearer, and that they will be in contact with skin and glues, we do not accept returns for used horns. (Yes, even once.) If you have any issues, contact us at support@alchemias.com and we will work to resolve the problem quickly. Please see our FAQ for a longer explanation of these policies.
