An Impending Emergence

Summer

Strange and joyous things have been afoot at Alchemias Central. Art is being produced, skills are being hones, horns are being shaped, and other nefarious and wicked things are developing. Somewhere in the astrological mix of bizarre confluence, this year just decided to be The Year that we emerge from behind the anonymity of the digital screen and into meatspace.

That means that we’re looking at starting to earnestly do events, festivals, and other in-person engagements.

What are we bringing to the literal table, though? We are in a collective with a number of other excellent artists and artisans – the Ladies of the Might – and that means we can offer more that our busy little hands could produce on our own. The tarot tiles are finally approaching their perfected form, runes are coming as well, and our itch for physical and digital art may lead to a wide variety of fascinating objects.

And, yes, they’ll all be available in the online store once we hit our goals for stock.

That’s the part of having an art-based online business that doesn’t really get talked about a lot. You can make all kinds of awesome things, but selling them is not just a simple matter of money-for-product exchange. There are logistical things to consider like how to safely transport a painting or what kind of wrapping is going to keep your sculpture safe, but we also still have to remember the psychology of market: one item listed will never sell, and two items will only lead to one sale per year, at best. There is a magical number of items of stock required to inspire buyer confidence, and no one knows what that number is ahead of time for any given product.

So, we just make what feels like the right number and hope for the best.

That’s a big part of what keeps us from going full throttle on marketing efforts. If we don’t have enough of the products that appeal to you, it’s easy to lose attention or feel like you’re not getting exactly what you want. Since our work is all handmade, our time needs to be maximized to reflect what’s important to you.

This awesome header image is one of our new ideas, sets of greeting cards. This one is Summer from a set of four reflecting the seasons. They may also come in four-packs of fancy bookmarks.

What do you think? Is there some kind of witchy mystical product that you’d like to see us carry?
